Just come back from the jungle! (La selva) Had a brill time, we found sloths, an iguana, killer bees! (they attacked one of my guides!), monkeys, lots of different birds and fruits, a baby rat thing, dolphins (grey, not pink ones, which is just as well, as the pink ones turn into gringos when the tide is high, take the local girls into the jungle and lose them! - of course they don´t turn into female gringas, so the men can have a gringa bride if they like!). Also, swam in a tributary of the Amazon, and stayed in a local families house, used the jungle toilet, went on boats and canoes, met lots of really cute children - foreign children are so much nicer than British ones, they´re really good, cheerful, clever, not a pain in the ass, and by the age of 12 or 13, are practically adults and able to look after themselves, unlike our UK pre-pubes. This little boy where we stayed was only 6 or 7 and he rowed two of us across the river by himself! Oh and we went fishing for pirhanas, and in fact, I swam in the piranha-infested water - they´re not as vicious as the films make out! They kept joking to me about anacondas too, but I think the water wasn´t high enough for them to be about...
It is supposed to be rainy season, but my guide was explaining to me that it is unusually un-rainy. I liked it when it rained in the jungle though, as it was so blummin hot, and it sent the mozzies away for a bit. I have so many bites and they´re itching like mad! Despite having used my 100% DEET constantly, they seem to be attracted by it!
Anyway, the pictures are coming, one day, have already taken 100 in just 1 week!
